Hours of work are 25 hours per week, over 5 days, term time only.

Bessacarr Primary is a relatively large group 3, fully inclusive school with 450 pupils aged 3 – 11, from a wide range of ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.

As an experienced Teaching Assistant, your main role will be to provide one-to-one and small group support both in and out of the classroom as well as promoting inclusion and positive behaviour.

Duties will include:

  • Working with the class teacher to plan and supervise activities as appropriate.
  • Observing and assessing the pupils in line with key worker duties.
  • Keeping records up-to-date and ensuring that other members of staff and parents/carers are informed of pupil progress.
  • Ensuring that the children in the class are safe at all times.
  • Promoting inclusion and encouraging the pupil to develop social, number and language skills at their own pace.
  • Following all school policies and procedures.

Applicants must have recent work experience as a Teaching Assistant with experience of behaviour management within a Primary School setting and candidates will be expected to show a high level of understanding and good practice
