Hours of work are 16 hours per week, term time only (over 5 days) plus 5 training days. This is a fixed-term contract until the end of March 2018. 

The Headteacher and Governors of Arksey Primary School wish to appoint a hardworking and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team.  The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting children in KS1 & KS2 with additional needs.  Experience in working with children with autism would be an advantage alongside knowledge and understanding of the current KS1 & KS2 curriculum. 

A vacancy exists for someone who;

  • Is an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual who will bring a sense of energy and passion to the role
  • Has a good level of general education - English and Maths at GCSE C or above is essential
  • Can use their initiative to work independently and flexibly
  • Has experience of working with children in a school setting
  • Enjoys working with children and forms good relationships with children and adults

Key areas of responsibility:

  • To ensure all children identified for support are given every opportunity to access the curriculum and to develop socially and emotionally
  • To work with the class teacher to highlight individual learning needs and plan support for each lesson
  • To assist the teacher in evaluating progress through agreed assessment activities
  • To provide teachers with feedback on participation and progress
  • To support identified children to engage with the learning objectives set for the lesson
  • To prepare resources that meet the children’s needs and interests
  • To use the school’s behaviour management strategies to contribute to creating a purposeful learning environment
  • To support identified children in 1:1, group or whole class situations 

The position is term time plus 5 training days but it is vital that the appointed person can be flexible in terms of hours and availability and be able to work additional hours as requested.
